Hi there! My name is Alessandra Stagno and I'm a Senior Product Designer and Product Design Mentor (: I absolutely love designing and I am passionate about finding new ways that design can improve any situation - including my personal life! When I'm not designing, I'm usually walking, traveling, or watching documentaries about space. Who knows, maybe soon we'll be able to choose between an Earth map and a Mars map on our mapping tools!

Besides being the Art & Design Director, I had the incredible pleasure of having Alessandra as my mentor during my Internship at Mapcreator. With her passion and talent for Art, Design, Branding, and User Experience, she was ready to share everything she knew. There were never too many questions, nothing was ever too much. I can safely say that Alessandra is a very valuable employee. She is hardworking, kind, creative and does not stop until she is satisfied. What really impressed me most about Alessandra is how she always took the time to make sure I was doing and feeling good, during these strange times. It is very rare that you meet someone like Alessandra, as she was much more than a mentor to me, she was an inspiration and truly took me under her wing. She is a delight to work with and always inspires the people around her. Thank you Alessandra, for letting me grow, for your guidance and everything you taught me.
There are a lot of adjectives to describe Alessandra, one will need them all to draw the complete picture: Boldness (leaving her comfort zone and moving to a foreign country; her design decisions), creativity (finding the smartest and functional solution), curiosity (always asking questions and reading up on new things). There are many more. But if I may only use two words, it’ll have to be care, and attention. The meaningful question about “How are you?”, and not just a superficial one. Always happy to share her advice. Following up on past conversations. Noticing when something’s up and not being shy to address it. Which goes along with her attention: active listening, hearing also between the lines, and asking for feedback in every situation possible. All these traits are found in everyday situations, and expressed through her thorough designs and deliverables.
A colleague you wouldn’t want to miss on your team, and a friend you want to take a walk with.

I had my first session with Alessandra on 28th of April and second session in 23rd of June. She is an amazing mentor and you immediately understand how clever she is. Ale is a really approachable and genuine human being. We found each other on LinkedIn by discussing the design tools we used at the beginning of our career - This is so random and so surprisingly lovely. During the session, we heard about each other's stories in terms of how we cope with life in pandemics, the struggle of being an immigrant, and also work experiences in a small but fast-paced growing team. In the future, I'm looking forward to following up with her to learn more about her in detail!
